POSITIONS VACANT - CANBERRA CANNONS HEAD COACH
29.10.09 10:37Basketball ACT recently agreed to allow Canberra Cannons Pty Ltd to operate the existing Canberra Gunners program in the South East Australia Basketball League (SEABL). The arrangement will result in the Canberra Gunners being renamed as the Canberra Cannons to participate in the 2010 SEABL competition.
The Cannons are seeking expressions of interest in the Head Coaching position and assistant coaching positions for the men’s team. Interested applicants should provide details of experience together with a brief description of your philosophy.
The Cannons have previously taken part in the NBL and were a highly successful club on and off the floor while the Gunners have consistently achieved outstanding results in SEABL. There is an excellent core group of players who will return to the program.
The Cannons expectations are high and we are looking for a coach who can build a successful program with a heavy emphasis on developing local talent and a particular interest in junior players who have progressed through the ACT representative program.
It is anticipated that the program will be run in line with previous SEABL seasons from March to August however the coaching staff will be involved in preparations and conditioning well prior to the season. The coach will be expected to take part in media and sponsorship commitments.
The coaching position has in the past been voluntary however we anticipate some part time remuneration and benefits will be negotiated.
We are also seeking expressions of interest for two assistant coaching positions.
Applications and/or enquiries can be emailed to canberracannons@gmail.com no later than 10 November. Once expressions are closed the Cannons and Basketball ACT will convene a selection panel to interview a short-list of candidates for the position of Head Coach. For further information call Terry Ryan on 0407-422751.
