KAMPMAN RETURNS FOR THIRD YEAR WITH FRANKSTON
04.11.09 14:16The Frankston 'Cambur' Blues have today announced the return of their 2009 SEABL South Conference All Star Five player, Rob Kampman. 2010 will be Kampman's third year with the Club.
In Kampman's first year, the Blues finished runners-up in the South Conference and in 2009 they were South Conference Champions. The 6'8" former Wichita State player was an integral part of both of these highly successful seasons, when the Blues won consecutive Minor Premierships with 20 plus win seasons.
The popular Kampman averaged 21.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game in 2009, shooting 44% from the field (41% from 3 pt range) and 85% from the free throw line.
However, Coach Bill Runchey said, "It's Rob's willingness to do the little things that makes him such a valuable team member. He waits for the game to come to him, rather than forcing shots and his own opportunities. His teammates love playing with him and I am very happy to have Rob coming back for what should be another exciting season for the 'Cambur' Blues."
Kampman is currently in Wichita, Kansas working out and rehabilitating the troublesome knee that flared up in the last 3 or 4 games of last season. Rob is confident that the work he is putting in now will pay dividends throughout the 2010 season, saying, "It's good to be back at Frankston. I have made some great friends there and I am looking forward to getting back and getting to work on some unfinished business we didn't get done in 2009."
Kampman joins Mitch Chapman, Andrew Harms, Grant Dennis and Mike Runchey as players who have re-signed for another year with the Blues. Also added to this mix is new recruit Gavin Illangakoon and South Conference MVP David Gruber.
The Blues 2010 Season will tip-off in Mid-March.
